The journal discusses the theory and methodology of economics (structural and technological changes in the Russian economy after 2014), sectoral development (methodological problems of assessing Russia's food security, modeling the development of creative industries in the Far East, the potential to increase the energy efficiency of the Russian economy), regional economics (cluster typology of small and medium-sized cities in Northwestern Russia, modern problems of monitoring the economic security of regions), as well as public finances (assessment of the effectiveness of inter-budgetary equalization in Russia and the problems of reducing inter-regional differentiation). Considerable attention is paid to socio-economic issues, scientific, technological and innovative development (analysis of monitoring systems for scientific and technological development of the BRICS countries), as well as social development issues (the importance of financial incentives in motivating large families, personal health resources of the population, and the expansion of tools for studying poverty). Traditionally, the issue presents the results of the monitoring of public opinion on the state of Russian society, which has been conducted by the VolSC RAS since 1996.
